2006 goes on...

Woah! I feel bad! Lol! Yes. James Brown, The Godfather Of Soul, died on Christmas Day! He joins a list of luminaries who have passed on this special day. The list includes WC Fields, Joan Blondell, Dean Martin, Charlie Chaplin, Billy Martin and Denver Pyle. I’m sure there are more. I saw Brown at The Lonestar Cafe in NYC in the mid-'80's before he made his comeback performing a song in one of those Rocky sequels. He was pretty amazing. His band included a horn section and three female singers all crammed on to a fairly small stage. He did his whole act. I'm glad I got to see him at least once!

On Dec. 18th Joe Barbera died at the age of 95. He was one half of the cartoon production team of Hanna-Barbera. Together they produced a huge amount of animated classics including Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, Huckleberry Hound and many others. William Hanna died in 1991. Much of The Cartoon Network’s sister station Boomerang consists of their cartoons.

McClory started his career as an assistant director to John Huston on THE AFRICAN QUEEN, MOULIN ROUGE and later MOBY DICK. He was an Associate Producer of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS. He was 80.
